How To Stay Productive During Quarantine
Do you like working from home? I love it honestly! Due to COVID-19, I've been working from home for months now. Transitioning from a 9-5 to working from home can be difficult. I've had jobs where I worked from home often so this wasn't a huge change for me but, not even being able to go outside or go to social events with friends has been difficult. Being at home 24/7 has started to affect my productivity. All of my days have started to run together and I lose track of time. I find that I get distracted way too often. For example, some days I try to get workouts in during lunch or randomly think of tasks around the house that still need to be done.
Now, more and more businesses have moved to WFH options. Changing your daily schedule to accommodate this new lifestyle can be a bit challenging which is why I’m sharing a few tips on how to maintain productivity while working from home. These are tips that I personally use and have worked for me over the past few months of quarantine!
Stick to a daily routine. Whether it’s the typical 9-5 office hours or just a daily routine you have mapped out, make sure you have it planned from start to finish. This will help you stay productive throughout the day plus, you’ll notice your days go by 10x faster.
Establish a designated workspace. How tempting is it to just work from your bed or the coach? Focusing on your work is extremely difficult if your uncomfortable. Set up an office area that works for you so you can create a sense of normalcy.
Give yourself a break. I swear working from home equals working longer hours. It's a must that you take small breaks. Take a real lunch break (don’t just work during lunch), go on a walk, take nap, watch a quick t.v. show, whatever it is, give your mind time to recoup and remain productive.
Reference a to-do list and stick to it. Simple, make a to-do list daily and stick to it. There’s 10x more distractions when working from home. Creating a to-do list is a way you can avoid them.
Eliminate TV and all other distractions while doing work. This is the toughest for me. I love multitasking when I'm working from home but, it can be a slippery slope. It helps to just remove all distractions while working from home. Focus on your to-do list for the day and then reward yourself with your favorite Netflix series afterwards.
Hold yourself accountable. Regardless of where your working from, you still have a job to do. Make sure to deliver on your tasks. Every hour of the day is just as serious as it would be if you were in the office working at your desk.
